Can I buy contact lenses online without a prescription?
The short answer: No, not legally in the United States.
Contact lenses are considered medical devices by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). That means you must have a valid prescription from a licensed eye doctor, even for colored lenses without vision correction.
Your prescription does more than list your vision power.
It ensures:
The lenses fit your eyes properly
The material is safe for your eyes
Your eyes stay healthy and infection-free
Wearing the wrong lenses can lead to irritation, infections, and even serious eye damage.
The best way to buy contact lenses is with a current prescription and guidance from your eye doctor.
At Focus Vision Care, we can:
Perform your contact lens exam
Update your prescription
Order your lenses directly for you
It’s simple, safe, and convenient.

Your vision is still sharp

Update your prescription if needed
It’s quick, painless, and super important for long-term eye health.
If you keep using old lenses or an expired prescription, you risk:

If you wear contact lenses, taking care of them is super important. One of the most common questions people ask is: How should I store my contact lenses overnight? Don’t worry, we focus vision care got you covered!
Here’s a simple guide to help you keep your lenses clean and your eyes healthy.
Before touching your lenses, always wash your hands with soap and water. Dry them with a clean towel. This helps keep dirt and germs away from your eyes.
Never reuse old solutions. Always pour out the used liquid from your case and refill it with a fresh contact lens solution. This helps kill germs and keeps your lenses clean.
Important: Don’t use water to clean or store your lenses. Only use the solution recommended by your eye doctor.
Some lenses need to be rubbed and rinsed before storing. Check your lens solution bottle, some are “no-rub,” but others need a quick clean.
If rubbing is needed:
Put the lens in your palm.
Add a few drops of solution.
Gently rub it with your finger for 10-15 seconds.
Rinse with more solution.
Put each lens in its own side of the contact lens case (right and left). Fill each side with fresh solution until the lenses are fully covered. Close the case tightly.
Tip: Replace your lens case every 1-3 months to avoid bacteria buildup.
Your lenses need to soak for several hours (check the bottle for exact time). This allows the solution to disinfect them fully. By morning, they’ll be clean, comfortable, and ready to wear again.
Follow the wear schedule for your lenses (daily, bi-weekly, monthly).
Don’t sleep in lenses unless your doctor says it’s okay.
Always carry extra solutions when traveling.
See your eye doctor regularly.
The Bottom Line
Taking care of your contact lenses doesn’t have to be hard.
Just remember: wash your hands, use fresh solution, clean and store them properly, and soak them overnight.

Yes, you can wear makeup with contact lenses, but in order to keep your eyes safe and comfy there are some rules you should follow.
If you don’t follow, makeup can get in your eyes and cause irritation or even an infection.
Don’t worry, though, we (Focus Vision Care) will walk you through some easy tips!
Always put in your contact lenses before you apply makeup. This helps keep makeup from getting on your lenses and causing blurry vision or discomfort.
Choose makeup that’s safe for sensitive eyes or labeled “contact lens safe.”
Look for:
Hypoallergenic mascara
Oil-free foundation
Fragrance-free products
Cream eyeshadow (powders can fall into your eyes)
Tip: Avoid glittery or super shimmery products, they flake easily and can irritate your eyes.
Don’t apply eyeliner to your inner lash line (the “waterline”), it’s too close to your lenses.
Apply mascara from the middle to the tips of your lashes, not all the way to the base.
Avoid loose powders near your eyes if possible.
Always wash and dry your hands before touching your lenses or your face. This helps avoid getting dirt or makeup oils on your contacts.
At the end of the day, take out your contact lenses before removing your makeup. This helps keep makeup from getting trapped between your lens and your eye.
Dirty brushes = more bacteria = unhappy eyes. Clean your makeup tools regularly, and replace your eye makeup (especially mascara) every 2–3 months.
DO:
Use makeup made for sensitive eyes
Insert contacts before applying makeup
Take out contacts before removing makeup
DON’T:
Share makeup with others
Use expired products
Put eyeliner on your waterline

Wearing contact lenses is usually easy and safe, but sometimes a lens can get stuck in your eye.
Don’t panic, this happens to many people and it can usually be fixed at home.
It might feel scary, but the lens can’t go behind your eye. It’s just out of place and needs a little help to come out.
Before touching your eye, wash your hands with soap and water. Dry them with a clean towel. This helps keep your eye safe from germs.
Try to find the lens. Sometimes it moves to the white part of your eye or gets tucked under your eyelid. Gently pull your eyelid up or down and look side to side.
If your eye feels dry or the lens won’t move, put in a few lubricating eye drops (not redness drops). Blink several times. This can help the lens slide back into place or make it easier to remove.
Once you see the lens, use your fingertip to gently slide it to the center of your eye, then pinch it out with clean fingers like you normally would.
Close your eyes and rest for a few minutes. Sometimes, letting your eyes relax helps the lens move on its own.
If you still can’t get the lens out or your eye feels sore, red, or blurry, call your eye doctor right away. They can safely remove it and check your eye.
Tip: Always follow your eye doctor’s instructions on wearing and removing contact lenses. Keeping your eyes moist and clean can help avoid this problem in the future!

We’re happy to answer your questions or schedule an appointment to help you feel comfortable and confident with your vision care.
Putting in and taking out contact lenses may feel tricky at first, but don’t worry! With a little practice, it gets easier.
Step 1: Wash Your Hands
Always start by washing your hands with soap and water. Dry them with a clean towel.
Step 2: Take Out One Lens
Start with the same eye every time (left or right) so you don’t mix them up.
Step 3: Place It on Your Finger
Put the lens on the tip of your index finger. It should look like a bowl with the edges up. If the edges flare out, it’s inside out, flip it over.
Step 4: Hold Your Eyelids
With your other hand, hold your upper eyelid so you don’t blink. Use the middle finger of your lens hand to pull down your lower eyelid.
Step 5: Look Straight or Up
Gently place the lens on your eye. Look in front of you or up, whatever feels easier.
Step 6: Blink Slowly
Let go of your eyelids and blink a few times. The lens should feel comfortable. If not, take it out, rinse it with a solution, and try again.
Step 1: Wash and Dry Your Hands
Always start clean!
Step 2: Look Up
Use one hand to gently pull down your lower eyelid.
Step 3: Pinch the Lens
Use your thumb and index finger to gently pinch the lens and take it out. Be gentle!
Step 4: Clean or Throw It Away
If it’s a daily disposable lens: throw it away.
If it’s reusable: clean it with solution and store it in your lens case.
Tips to Remember
Always handle lenses with clean, dry hands.
Never sleep in your lenses unless your doctor says it’s okay.
Don’t use water to clean them, only contact lens solution.
If your lens feels uncomfortable, take it out and rinse it.
